Ananya Panday is the daughter of popular Bollywood actor Chunky Panday, which has often placed her under the spotlight in discussions surrounding nepotism in the industry. On Koffee With Karan 8, Ananya admitted that she is haunted by her past comments where she had spoken about how her father had to struggle in films and was never invited on Karan Johar’s popular celebrity chat show.
When Karan asked Ananya about it, she told him that she is haunted but it a little bit because initially she used to get troubled by it. She would wonder why people are still saying it and why aren’t they able to let go. But now she is somewhere at peace with it because she also knows what she meant to say.
Ananya then mentioned that her brain and her mouth have zero coordination citing that she thinks something else and something else comes out from her mouth. Though she understands that she has grown up in the public eye and started working when she was 18, she feels a little weird because these moments of their lives is permanently present for people to watch and judge even though they have changed so much from what they were.

She then added that when she was watching her last season of Koffee With Karan, she was like, ‘Who is this person? I cannot relate to her. I don’t know this person.’ She said that she has changed with time and she is now hoping people will also grow with her and see the change.

During the episode, Karan also quizzed Ananya about her rumoured relationship with Aditya Roy Kapur with reference to the two being spotted together on holidays recently. Ananya then tried to manoeuvre the conversation to her professional life because no one is talking about it. But Karan wasn’t the one to give up so easily.

The filmmaker then asked her, “Are you in a friendzone with Aditya Roy Kapur?” To which, Ananya somehow managed to say “We are friends” three times. During the rapid fire, Karan threw a direct question to Ananya, “Are you dating Aditya Roy Kapur?” Responding to the same, Ananya said, “I’m feeling very Ananya Coy Kapur answering that question.”
