The Dhanush starrer ‘Captain Miller‘ was released in theaters on January 12, and the film took on Sivakarthikeyan’s ‘Ayalaan‘ at the box office. The two Tamil biggies were released this Pongal, while Dhanush and Sivakarthikeyan clashed at the box office for the first time. Both films have completed a week of theatrical run successfully, and they entered the second week yesterday (January 19). ‘Captain Miller’ and ‘Ayalaan’ continue their close box office battle in the second week as well.
On day 8 (January 19), ‘Captain Miller’ and ‘Ayalaan’ reportedly grossed Rs 4 crore and Rs 4.5 crore, respectively. Whereas, Sivakarthikeyan’s ‘Ayalaan’ continues to dominate the overall collection as the science fiction drama leads Dhanush’s periodic action drama by more than Rs 3 crore. ‘Ayalaan’ has reportedly grossed Rs 70 crore worldwide in 8 days, while ‘Captain Miller’ has earned almost Rs 67 crore in 8 days. However, both films have retained the most screens for the second week, and the reservation for both films for the next two days looks healthy.
