While the movie was initially slated for a January release, a report on Times Now states that Prabhas has been the reason behind the delay. The actor reportedly expressed his concerns about the proximity of the release date to his recent film, ‘Salaar’, which hit theatres in December 2023.
A source told the portal that although the film is ready for its release, Prabhas feels that it’s close proximity to the release of his 2023 film ‘Salaar’, may hamper its success. “The producers are now looking for an appropriate date for release in March or April 2024,” states the report.
The production team is placing high stakes on the success of ‘Kalki 2898 AD‘ and is hopeful for a massive response from the audience. Prabhas, who is keen on setting new records, is anticipating a significant box office impact that could be on the lines of ‘Baahubali‘, despite recent films like ‘Saaho’, ‘Radhe Shyam’ and ‘Adipurush’.
Directed by Nag Ashwin in Mumbai, the film boasts a stellar cast including Kamal Hassan, Amitabh Bachchan, Disha Patani, and
Deepika Padukone.
Meanwhile, leading lady Deepika is set to return with a bang in the film ‘Fighter‘ that hits screens on January 26. Should ‘Kalki’ also be released in the same month, then DP fans will get to see her in two distinct roles. It must also be noted that while promotions for ‘Fighter’ are in full swing.
