In a new interview with Connect FM Canada, RGV opened up about critics calling the Ranbir Kapoorstarrer ‘violent’ and ‘misogynistic’ film. According to him, that is the nature of a violent film and the director has been saying that from the beginning.‘You will see whatviolence is,’ he had said. He said that people were pre-warned in trailers and interviews. So he finds calling the film violent really funny.
RGV also added that the whole point of a film is to startle you and to provoke an emotion. Shock is one of the emotions. He revealed that many times he was surprised in the film, but it can be an unpleasant surprise to some people and when sudden shock comes, it disorients them.
Triptii Dimri’s brutally Honest interview: Actress opens up about ‘Animal’, her crush Ranbir Kapoor and intimate scenes
Ram Gopal Varma also expressed his thoughts on the nude scene featuring Ranbir Kapoor in the film, considering it a remarkable accomplishment. According to Varma, an actor’s major concern is how he will appear in a scene and the fear that the audience might not respond positively. He acknowledged the challenges posed by the director, Sandeep, to Ranbir, particularly the naked scene where he walks in front of his family and staff. Varma commended Ranbir’s conviction in executing the scene, emphasizing his belief in the character. According to Varma, when Ranbir is on screen, it genuinely appears as though he is fully immersed in the character, which he considers to be a rare achievement.
RGV mentioned that the only instance he wasn’t convinced with “Animal” was during the scene where Ranbir’s character asks Triptii Dimri‘s character to lick his feet. According to him, this particular scene seemed inconsistent because it made him feel that Ranbir was out of character. RGV elaborated further, expressing that Triptii’s character evoked a lot of empathy and felt genuine to him. He added that being so rude and crude to her in that specific scene caused Ranbir’s character to fall below her, which, according to him, was not the case in the rest of the film.
Animal has been doing record-breaking business at the box office.
