Amidst recent allegations of plastic surgery, Red Velvet’s Joy appears to have responded to the speculations in a series of heartfelt messages on the Dear. U Bubble platform. The controversy arose after photos of Joy heading to film Animal Farm and interacting with fans showcased what some netizens perceived as changes in her eyes.

While explanations such as eyelid tape, lack of sleep, and cold weather were offered by some fans, others took a more negative route, accusing the idol of undergoing plastic surgery.

This prompted an influx of critical comments about Joy’s appearance.
A day later, Joy took to Dear. U Bubble to address the situation directly. In her messages, she expressed gratitude for the support of her fans, known as Luvies, “It was cold and snowy yesterday, but I went to say hello because I was worried about the Luvies who were waiting for me”. Joy acknowledged the short interaction with fans and emphasized, “Although we didn’t get to spend a lot of time together, we were happy to see each other. Right?”
However, she also touched upon the negativity surrounding her recent photos, stating that responding to those who “know nothing and only see one side of the story” isn’t worth it. Joy reassured Luvies that she is okay and encouraged them to focus on being happy together.
Joy conveyed, “It’s not worth responding to people who see only one side of the story and say whatever they want when they don’t know anything about me. I’m okay, so Luvies, trust me. Let’s just be happy as we are now”.
The singer then shared details about her upcoming plans, “I had a good rest! Starting tomorrow, I will be doing online fansigns. I have other things scheduled in between here and there, but I’m not sure when you’ll hear about them. At the end of February, I’ll be at SM Town Tokyo. I also might be able to go to Milan for Tod’s”. Despite the ongoing rumors, Joy urged fans not to be swayed by baseless talks, emphasizing, “So don’t let all the nonsense talk fool you”. She wrapped up her messages by expressing excitement about the milestone of Red Velvet’s 10th year, urging fans, “Just trust me and let’s have a fantastic 2024! This is our 10th year, Trust me”.

As Joy continues to face unwarranted criticism regarding her appearance, her response offers a glimpse into her resilience and determination to focus on the positive support from her loyal fanbase.
