Filmmaker Rohit Shetty is often recognized for his cop universe franchises. In 2021, he announced wanting to add a new gem to his very trove, as he talked about making a biopic of Rakesh Maria, the illustrious former Commissioner of Mumbai Police. In a recent interview, Rohit spoke about the hurdles in casting for this compelling narrative.
During his interaction with Lallantop, Rohit Shetty spoke about the casting conundrum for the biopic.He said since the story starts from 1985 and goes till 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, the filmmaker has to show the narrative that travels from a young boy to a 50 year old man. Considering the same, he is facing issues with the casting; thus, it has been locked yet.

Rohit mentions that he will commence shooting for the biopic once he completes his upcoming cop universe movie, ‘Singham Again,’ which is scheduled to release this Independence Day.

For the unversed, Rakesh Maria, an IPS officer since 1981, achieved acclaim for cracking the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case as the Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic). His career includes serving as DCP (Crime), Joint Commissioner of Police (Crime), and eventually becoming the Commissioner of Mumbai Police in 2014. Notably, he played a pivotal role in investigating the 2008 Mumbai attacks, interrogating Ajmal Kasab, the lone captured terrorist.
