Ananya Panday and Siddhant Chaturvedi, who will be next seen together in their upcoming film Kho Gaye Hum Kahan, recently opened up about their viral interview which stirred up controversy, making headlines and sparking heated discussions about privilege and nepotism.
When the two actors were asked about their interview moment and how they have developed their friendship from there on, Siddhant told Film Companion that the interview was like an ice-breaker, the start of their friendship.
Ananya said that she can just call Siddhant and tell him about what she feels. “If I felt that something was not okay, whether personally and professionally, or he felt something was not fine, we have always told each other and that’s the way we have kept it. It’s a good way to be with anyone,” she said.
In addition, Siddhant said that the episode never affected their friendship because they did Gehraiyaan right after that, followed by Kho Gaye Hum Kahan. He also said that those who have seen the film’s trailer would easily make out that he is not faking his friendship with Ananya, by calling himself a not so good actor.

For the uninitiated, the controversy began when Siddhant responded to a question about the struggles of being an outsider in the industry, highlighting the importance of self-made journeys and facing challenges head-on. Ananya’s response, however, took a different turn. Her comment about struggling involved admitting that her father, actor Chunky Panday, never appeared on Koffee with Karan, a popular talk show known for hosting Bollywood celebrities.

This statement ignited a social media storm, with many viewers interpreting it as a lack of awareness about the significant advantages and opportunities that come with being part of a film industry legacy. Many people argued that Ananya’s comment downplayed the challenges faced by true outsiders and underscored the need for a more nuanced understanding of privilege within the industry.
Ananya later clarified her remarks, expressing that she was misunderstood, and her intention was not to undermine the struggles of others. Despite the clarification, the controversy had already left a lasting impact.
