Netflix took to its official page to announce that the show has officially gone into production and shared a cast photo, confirming the return of the majority of the original cast, including Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Gaten Matarazzo, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Caleb McLaughlin, Charlie Heaton, Natalia Dyer, Joe Keery, David Harbour, Winona Ryder, Brett Gelman, Jamie Campbell Bower, and others.
However, photo of Schnapp smiling brightly behind leading star Millie, created quite a stir online with netizens and fans of the show appealing to others not to watch the final season. Many were even ‘appalled’ that the makers didn’t fire Schnapp, who portrays the character Will Beyers.
Outraged fans expressed their disappointment at the lack of action against Schnapp and said, “They have taken NO action against him. I’m appalled. Completely and utterly appalled. I will not be watching season 5, and I urge everyone else to do the same.”
Others simply wrote, “BOYCOTT STRANGER THINGS!”
Noah found himself in a soup after a controversial video, posted by PopCrave on Nov. 13, saw him smiling and recording individuals holding stickers that read “Zionism Is Sexy” and “Hamas Is Isis.”
Criticism intensified after Schnapp’s video emerged, with viewers accusing him of indifference towards lives over his social media posts on the ongoing Israel and Palestine conflict.
The controversy isn’t limited to Schnapp, as actors Brett Gelman and Cara Buono, along with producer Shawn Levy and the Duffer Brothers, who created the show, have also faced criticism. Some users labeled them as “lurid Zionists.”
“Why do people act like noah schnapp is the only zionist working on stranger things and that they can simply separate actor from character and still support the show ? like one of the creators, one of the producers, and MULTIPLE cast members are all zionists. BOYCOTT THE SHOW,” wrote another.
“I am BEGGING people to stop acting like noah schnapp is the only zionist working on stranger things. he isn’t even the worst of them and y’all refuse to broaden ur focus. I swear a lot of u don’t even care about palestinians, u just care about engaging in a witch hunt,” said another.
The ‘Stranger Things’ team finds themselves at the center of a storm, with fans expressing disappointment and disillusionment, overshadowing the excitement surrounding the upcoming season.
