The highly acclaimed comedy, “Khichdi 2: Mission Paanthukistan,” featuring a stellar cast including Supriya Pathak, Rajeev Mehta, and more, is set for its OTT release. Following its successful theatre debut in November 2023, the film gained a lot of praise for its narrative and outstanding performances. Now, fans can enjoy the laughter-filled journey from the comfort of their homes as the film prepares for its digital premiere.
ZEE5, the streaming platform, officially announced the OTT release date for “Khichdi 2: Mission Paanthukistan” on January 25. The film is scheduled to premiere exclusively on February 9. The platform shared a vibrant poster of the film on Instagram, declaring, “Parekh parivaar ke bade log are back with 2x the madness! #Khichdi2 premieres on 9th February, only on #ZEE5.”
The storyline of “Khichdi 2” follows the adventurous journey of the Parekh family as they embark on a mission to save the world. Praful, portrayed by Rajeev Mehta, plays a dual role, assuming the character of an emperor in the fictional country of Paanthukistan.
Created by Jamnadas Majethia and Aatish Kapadia‘s Hats Off Productions, “Khichdi” initially gained popularity as a TV series in 2002 on Star Plus. The second season, titled “Instant Khichdi,” premiered in 2004 on Star One. Subsequently, it was adapted into a film in 2010, and after a hiatus of 13 years, the makers returned with “Khichdi 2.”
Earlier, Supriya Pathak, who plays the role of Hansa, shared insights into reprising her iconic character, expressed the importance of bringing back the innocence of Hansa, stating, “Life has moved on, and I have worked on many things after that as an actor, but for me, Hansa never leaves me. I can do Hansa anywhere and at any time.”
