Vivek Oberoi Interview: On Rohit Shetty, Ranbir Kapoor in Animal | Indian Police Force
In an exclusive interview with ETimes, the actor opened up about his stint, and his relationship with Rohit Shetty. He said, “I’ve always wanted to work with Rohit Bhai, and we’ve been discussing this for 20 years now! And one fine day he called me and said let’s meet. He told me he’s making an OTT show on which he’s worked for nearly three years. He shared that when he was writing for Vikram Bakshi (his character), he thought of me and that’s a huge compliment. Also I love Rohit not only as a director, but also as a human being. Also who doesn’t want to be in a high speed walk shot in a Rohit Shetty production! It was so cool.”
Now not many are aware that Vivek is now part of Rohit Shetty’s “Ration Card“. Telling this story behind it, the Saathiya actor said, “ I was super pumped during the shoot, because when Rohit says I wrote this thinking of you, then you need to deliver. So, this is the second or third day of shooting. There was a complicated scene. And before that, all my takes were going great. But, this was a complex and longish scene, but I performed it to the best of my capacity.”
He carried on, “And I looked at Rohit, to hear the ‘okay’ or one more take or something like that. And he just kept staring at me, then smiled, took the mic and started praising me. He said ‘it was such a pleasure, such a joy working with an actor like you!!!’ And the whole team, they’re like Rohit’s extended family, so they started clapping and I felt so emotional and touched. And I gave him a hug, and he said ‘ Tera ration card ban gaya’ . That part I didn’t understand and his team started laughing! Then at lunch break, I asked him what this ration card thing is and he said ‘ When we’re happy working with somebody, when we like them as a person, we like them as a performer… ration card mein kis ka naam jata hai? family ka !! So you’re part of the family now.’ ”
