For the past few years the lines between Regional cinema and Hindi cinema have blurred, thanks to films like the Baahubali franchise, KGF series, Pushpa- The Fire, Salaar etc. And often makers of Hindi films have to keep in mind South releases when deciding their release dates. The latest example being the clash between ‘Salaar: Part 1- Ceasefire’ and ‘Dunki’. A similar clash is expected on Independence Day weekend this year, with the release of Rohit Shetty and Ajay Devgn’s ‘Singham Again‘ and Allu Arjun and Sukumar’s ‘Pushpa: The Rule’, which is a much anticipated sequel to 2021’s Pushpa: The Rise.

The buzz doing the rounds is that ‘Pushpa 2‘ could be delayed because the film’s production had to be stopped given that Allu Arjun had to take break because of health reasons. If this does turn out to be true, then the makers of ‘Singham Again’ might get a solo release across the country. However, there’s more to this release date! Industry insiders suggest that Jr. NTR, who was last seen in SS Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’, is keen to arrive in theatres on August 15 with his upcoming film ‘Devara‘. Besides Jr. NTR, ‘Devara’ also marks the Telugu debut of Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan. This film was supposed to release in April 2024, but the makers pushed it to give its VFX team enough time. It remains to be seen if there is a clash of titans on August 15 this year.
Coming back to ‘Pushpa’, insiders reveal that makers are now looking at a Christmas 2024 release date for the film, as the shoot delay has led to all the other departments also putting their work on hold.
