The Archies | Song – Dhishoom Dhishoom
In her conversation with News 18, she revealed that Farhan wrote the Hindi dialogues of the film. Speaking about it, Zoya said that her brother transformed the blueprint of the dialogues into his unique style, blending it with the syntax of a specific language and the simplicity found in Archie comics. She added that he skilfully captured the corniness and humor of the comics and brought it to life. He notably introduced the phrase ‘Va Va Voom‘ from the comics into the song. Zoya added that the two of them get along really well and Farhan understands her tone and aesthetics.
Coming to her dad, Javed Akhtar, who has written lyrics for all her films, she gives him special credit for The Archies as he grasped the Gen-Z lingo perfectly, despite being well versed with Urdu and Hindi. Zoya Akhtar mentioned that he has written the lyrics for soft rock, jazz and fusion tracks like Sunoh, Va Va Voom, Dhishoom Dhishoom and Plum Pudding and others in the film. She stated that her father can write lyrics for a film like a Lagaan and a Rock On, and that’s the beauty, but she also added that she had given her father a very tough brief for the film. Zoya told Javed Akhtar that she needed lyrics to sound like 1960’s teenage voices, they needed to be Anglo-Indian and so, it couldn’t be very heavy on Urdu or Hindi language.
