In their first year together, they met each other’s families. In September 2016, Mr. D’Angelo took Mr. Mach on an “Italian extravaganza experience,” including his hometown Palermo, Milan, Rome, and Panarea, one of the Aeolian Islands, north of Sicily. As they took in the view of the sunset over Stromboli, a volcano that frequently puffs and glows with bursts of lava, they drank Aperol spritzes and said “I love you” for the first time.

“You also couldn’t see another human for miles,” Mr. Mach said. “It was a really beautiful thing.” On that trip, Mr. Mach met Mr. D’Angelo’s parents.

For Thanksgiving that year, Mr. Mach brought Mr. D’Angelo home to Strongsville, Ohio, to meet his family. In April 2018, the couple moved in together in Manhattan and soon got a goldendoodle named Louie.

In December 2021, on a trip to Joshua Tree, in California, Mr. D’Angelo proposed. He surprised Mr. Mach, which was not an easy feat, he said, because Mr. Mach is “such a Virgo,” in that he is the main planner of the pair. As the sun was setting in the desert, Mr. D’Angelo got down on one knee, and surprised Mr. Mach with a Bulgari Serpenti Viper ring.

On Dec. 16, between the matinee and evening performances of “Merrily We Roll Along,” the couple took the stage together at the Hudson Theater and were married by Vishal Vaidya, a castmate who was previously ordained by the Universal Life Church. The cast — among them Jonathan Groff and Daniel Radcliffe — cheered along as spotlights illuminated the couple.

They also had a wedding celebration in June, with about 80 guests at a friend’s home in Mykonos, Greece. Shoshana Bean, the Tony-nominated actress and singer, sang “All I’ve Ever Known” from the musical “Hadestown” during the ceremony’s processional. Gracie McGraw, a daughter of the country music stars Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, sang her mother’s song, “This Kiss,” for the couple’s first dance. The grooms wore custom Roberto Cavalli tuxedos designed by Fausto Puglisi, who is a friend and client of Mr. D’Angelo and the brand’s creative director.

Reflecting on the two celebrations, Mr. D’Angelo said, “Fashion and Broadway, our two loves and our two passions, and what we’ve made out of our lives, kind of fused together this year.”
