Kim Yoo-jung and Song Kang have been charming fans with their electrifying chemistry on the ongoing drama ‘My Demon’. The couple has got fans rooting for their real life love story. And all the love translated into Kim Yoo-jung and Song Kang winning the Best Couple honour at the 2023 SBS Drama Awards.
Kim Yoo-jung, who was also hosting the ceremony, picked up the trophy on behalf of her co-star too as Song Kang was missing from the awards ceremony.
Earlier this month, SBS held an online vote for this year’s Best Couple award on its official website from December 18 to 27.
The Best Couple award recently landed in controversy as criteria for the upcoming 2023 SBS Drama Awards.
The 2023 nominees for Best Couple were: Ryeoun and Shin Ye Eun from ‘The Secret Romantic Guesthouse’, Ahn Hyo Seop and Lee Sung Kyung from ‘Dr Romantic 3′, and Song Kang and Kim Yoo-jung from ‘My Demon’. SBS hosted an online voting for the same, which saw
‘My Demon’ couple winning the top spot. The voting was concluded on December 27 with SBS stating that the winners would be decided on the basis of the votes and other criterias too. The network stated, “Aside from the online voting results, the Best Couple award is also determined based on the votes of each drama’s production team, the internal votes of SBS and Studio S employees, viewership ratings, online buzz, and other factors. The results will be announced during the live broadcast [of the 2023 SBS Drama Awards].”
Fans soon speculated that SBS made this announcement to avoid awarding Song Kang, whose presence at the 2023 SBS Drama Awards was not confirmed since he was adjusting his schedule. Reacting to the rumours, SBS clarified, “The criteria for the Best Couple award have been the same every year, and we put them in writing this year because we’d received many inquiries about the award criteria. We would be grateful if you would tune in to the broadcast to see the award results.”
