Rajkumar Hirani‘s ‘Dunki’ starring Shah Rukh Khan released in theatres on December 21, after much anticipation from fans. The film has managed to do decent at the box office and is about to cross the Rs 200 crore mark in India. However, the industry and fans had expected more from a collaboration between Raju Hirani and SRK. This was their first collaboration and Hirani has collaborated earlier with Aamir for ‘3 Idiots‘ and ‘PK’.
In a recent interview, the filmmaker pointed the similarities and differences in the working styles of both these superstars. The director said that the similarity between Shah Rukh and Aamir is that they’re both hard working and very committed to their films. Their processes are very different and every actor will come with a different process of working. While someone may be impromptu, another actor may be wanting to discuss a lot. So, their styles are different but their commitment level is the same, said Hirani during a conversation with Pinkvilla.
In the same interview, he had also revealed that he’s been wanting to work with Shah Rukh since a very long time. He said that he had this desire to work with him ever since he saw SRK in his television series. At that point, Hirani was a student at film institute. Hirani revealed that he had thought, that when he’s out of the institute, he would work with SRK since he’s also knew and nobody else would work with the director. But by the time, he graduated from the film institude, Shah Rukh was already a big star, said Hirani.
‘Dunki’ starred Taapsee Pannu alongside Shah Rukh. The film also had Boman Irani and Vicky Kaushal.
