In honor of the late actor Irrfan Khan, G5A, a Mahalaxmi-based performance space dedicated to experimental and independent arts, is organizing a three-day retrospective titled ‘Irrfan (1967 – 2020): A Retrospective.’ The event, curated by G5A Cinema House and filmmaker Nikkhil Advani, pays homage to Irrfan’s timeless contribution to cinema, immortalizing characters like Maqbool, Yogi, Rana, Ashoke, and Saajan.
From January 26 to 28, the retrospective will feature screenings of Irrfan’s most memorable films, spanning classics such as ‘The Lunchbox,’ ‘Paan Singh Tomar,’ and Mira Nair’s ‘The Namesake,’ to audience favorites like ‘Piku,’ ‘Qarib Qarib Singlle,’ and ‘Talvar.’
Expressing her sentiments, writer-actress and Irrfan’s wife, Sutapa Sikdar, shared, “I remember when he left us, my only desire was to celebrate him every day, in every way. What better way to remember him than celebrating his work.” The retrospective, a collaboration between G5A Cinema House and Nikkhil Advani, aims to honor Irrfan’s legacy by showcasing his exceptional cinematic journey.

He expressed his excitement about curating Irrfan’s most special films for the retrospective, grateful for the participation of actors, directors, producers, writers, and collaborators who willingly contributed to paying homage to the consummate artist.
