The movie ‘Safed,’ featuring Abhay Verma, Meera Chopra, Barkha Bisht, and Chhaya Kadam, has recently been released on Zee5. Sandeep Singh served as the director, writer, and producer of the film. On an interesting note, Barkha played the role of a transgender character called a kinnar in the movie. Surprisingly, Singer Sonu Nigam was initially offered the part of Radha in the film but eventually turned it down.
Sources reveal that filmmaker Sandeep Singh approached the renowned singer Sonu Nigam for the role of transgender character Radha in the movie “Safed.” However, Sonu Nigam declined the offer. Before this, other actors like Gauhar Khan and Sunil Grover were also approached for the role but turned it down.
‘Safed’ narrates a love story between a widow and a transgender, portraying the character of Radha, a transgender, who undergoes intense emotional struggles and lacks a clear identity. Despite the challenging nature of the role, several actors, including Sonu Nigam, Gauhar Khan, and Sunil Grover, reportedly turned down the opportunity. The reasons for their refusal remain unknown, leaving one to speculate whether portraying a transgender character onscreen made them hesitant.
